Why does WEF need donations?
Our mini-grants are funded each year using the funds raised by our annual Chocolate Rose Sale, S.T.A.R.S. (School Teachers are Really Special) program, corporate and individual donations and the Somerville Road Runners Annual Road Race.
How do I donate?
Individuals or businesses can submit donations at any time by mail. Your donation is tax deductible, WEF is a 501 ©(3) non-profit entity.

The Chocolate Rose Sale is our major fundraiser each year. The success of this fundraiser determines the scope and amount of mini-grants we can award to the public schools in Wakefield. Chocolate roses are sold in January for the Valentine’s Day holiday. They can be purchased by anyone in our community. The roses are individually wrapped, are $1.00 each, and are made in a “nut free” facility. Please consider buying chocolate roses for your beloved mothers, grandmothers, aunts, neighbors, friends, teachers – anyone to whom you would like to show your love and affection during the Valentine holiday!

The S.T.A.R.S. (School Teachers are Really Special) program enables anyone in the Wakefield community to recognize a special teacher by donating an amount of their choosing to WEF in the teacher’s honor. The teacher receives a lovely certificate of appreciation from the family who donated on their behalf. This is another way to recognize academic excellence provided by our wonderful teaching staff in the Wakefield Public Schools.
